  INSTABILITY OF MAGNETISED JETS IN THE SOLAR ATMOSPHERE

Observations show various kinds of jets and flows with different plasma parameters (temperatures, density, speed) such as spicules, X-ray jets, EUV jets, chromospheric anemone jets, tornadoes, etc. These jets can be unstable to KHI due to velocity jumps at surface and kink instability due to magnetic twist. The instabilitis may lead to heating/turbulence and hence are important for shaping the the chromospheric and coronal plasma. I will discuss the latest results of theoretical and observational studies about the problem and their possible connection to plasma heating.
